Regal fritillary butterflies were once common throughout the eastern United States. Now the only remaining population of this beautiful species, east of Indiana, can be found at Fort Indiantown Gap Military Reservation. Butterfly Biologist Erika McKinney will explain the current work at FIGMR to study and protect this vulnerable population. ZooAmerica Naturalist Tim Becker will describe their cooperative project to propagate regal fritillaries for reintroduction into new areas of Pennsylvania.
